Nashville Tech Meetups in November 2026: A Developer's Calendar
Eight Nashville tech events worth your time in November, from a security meetup at Asurion to a Builders Night at The Wedge, plus an honest answer to where the PHP and WordPress meetups went.
Caleb Dorris 2 November 2026, 10:30 AM 8 min

I build PHP, WordPress and Next.js work for businesses around Middle Tennessee, and most of that work happens alone at a desk. Meetups are the fix for that. You hear what other people are actually shipping, you find out which tools are hype, and you meet the person who already solved the bug you're about to spend two days on.
Nashville has a lot of tech events, but they're spread across Meetup, the Greater Nashville Technology Council (GNTC) calendar and a few Discord servers. So I pulled November into one list. Every event below was checked on its own event page, most recently on October 30. Meetup events move, so click through before you head out.
The one deadline to know: registration for OWASP Nashville's November 10 meetup closes Monday, November 2 at 6:00 PM CT, the same day this post goes up, so register today.
How I pick a meetup
A few rules that have kept me from wasting evenings:
- Go for the format, not just the topic. A demo night or an open "bring what you're building" night is better for meeting people than a single talk where everyone faces the same direction.
- Pick one recurring group and show up three times. The first visit is awkward for everyone. By the third, people know your name and what you work on.
- Bring one question. "Has anyone moved a WordPress site off cPanel this year?" starts more good conversations than a business card.
- Check the page the day before. Venues change. One group below has a location-change note on its page right now.

Week of November 2: happy hour and a professional-skills session
GNTC, "The Power of Self-Awareness: Building Influence and Impact" (Wed, Nov 4, 11:00 AM–12:00 PM). An interactive hour from Belmont University's Executive Education team on how your communication style lands with teammates, clients and leadership. It's not a code talk, but if you're the developer who has to explain a project to people who don't write code, it's useful. Registration goes through a Belmont form linked from the GNTC event page. The listing doesn't name a venue, so check the form for details.
Nashville Tech Happy Hour (Wed, Nov 4, 5:30–7:00 PM, Monday Night Preservation Co., 1308 Adams St). No talks and no agenda, just people who work in tech talking to each other. If you've never been to a Nashville meetup, this is the easiest one to walk into. The organizer's note says the garage across the street is one hour free and $6 an hour after that.
Week of November 9: application security and a community hackathon
OWASP Nashville, "Runtime is Where AI Lives" (Tue, Nov 10, 7:00–9:00 PM, Asurion Corporate Headquarters, 1101 Church St). This one is hybrid, so you can attend in person or join online. The talk covers how AI adds new attack surfaces, machine identities and autonomous actors, and why the speaker sees runtime and Layer 7 traffic as where security has to watch. If you build web apps or APIs, this is the most directly useful event of the month. Registration closes Monday, November 2 at 6:00 PM CT, eight days before the event. That's the day this post goes up, so don't wait.
If you want the background, I wrote about this month's AI-found PHP vulnerabilities and the WordPress plugin compromises. Both are good examples of the attack surface OWASP chapters spend their time on.
GNTC Hack 4 The Community (Thu–Fri, Nov 12–13). GNTC pairs local nonprofits that have tech problems with member companies that can solve them, and everyone involved volunteers their time. GNTC lists The Engine, fueled by Ankura, at 2963 Sidco Dr as the location, but the same page also says specific times and location are TBD. Check back before you plan around it. It's built around GNTC member companies, so if your employer is a member, this is a good one to push for.
Week of November 16: breakfast, AI demos and Builders Night
Breakfast with Nashville Data Nerds (Tue, Nov 17, 8:30–10:00 AM, Fido, 1812 21st Ave S in Hillsboro Village). This one happens on the third Tuesday of every month in Fido's back room. It's informal, starts with quick introductions, and covers data, work and life. You pay for your own coffee. There's parking behind the building.
Artificial Intelligencers, "Field Reports" (Wed, Nov 18, 6:00–8:00 PM, Vaco, 5501 Virginia Way, Suite 120, Brentwood). Community members give 15 to 20 minute demos and deep dives on AI projects, tools they've tried, and papers they found worth reading. It's for everyone from beginners to people doing AI for a living. The presentation list was still TBD when I checked, and the organizers are asking for volunteers, so this is a good place to show something you've built.
GNTC Tech Education Summit (Thu, Nov 19, 11:00 AM–1:30 PM, Tech Hill Commons, 500 Interstate Blvd S, Suite 210). A lunch-and-learn that brings tech educators and industry people together to talk about getting students ready for real jobs. If you hire juniors or mentor anyone, go.
Nashville Tech Builders, "Builders Night" (Thu, Nov 19, 5:30–7:00 PM, Wedge Pizza & Pub, 2026 Lindell Ave). A monthly happy hour for people hacking on side projects, home labs, automation and startup ideas. Bring something to demo, or just bring a question you're stuck on. Note the venue change: it's at The Wedge, by Scouts, with free paved and gravel parking at the venue. The page says to keep going straight where your GPS ends.
Where are the Nashville PHP and WordPress meetups?
If you searched for a Nashville PHP meetup and landed here, here's the honest answer: right now, there isn't an active one on the calendar.
The Nashville PHP group on Meetup still has more than 1,200 members and a long history (282 past events), but its most recent listed event was a PHP Dinner Out on January 9, 2024. WordPress Nashville ran Community Coffee Hours and help desk sessions through early 2026, and its last listed event was on March 3, 2026. Neither group had anything upcoming when I checked this week.
That's not a knock on the organizers. Running a meetup is unpaid work, and a lot of groups slowed down. But PHP and WordPress still run a huge share of the web, including plenty of Nashville small-business sites, so the developers are here even if the meetups are quiet.
Until one of those groups comes back:
- Go to the general groups. Nashville Tech Builders and Nashville Tech Happy Hour are full of people who touch PHP and WordPress, even if it isn't on the name tag.
- Watch the Nashville PHP and WordPress Nashville pages. If either group posts a new event, that's the one I'd go to first.
- Say hi. If you write PHP or build WordPress sites in Middle Tennessee, email me at caleb@calebdorris.com. If enough of us want a PHP coffee or a WordPress help desk night again, it's not hard to start one.
Need a developer, not a meetup?
If you found this while looking for someone to build or fix something, that's the other half of what I do. I work with businesses in Nashville and Middle Tennessee on:
- PHP applications: new builds, upgrades, and getting old code running on current PHP.
- WordPress: custom plugins and themes, new builds, updates, and changes to the site you already have.
- Next.js apps on Vercel: fast web apps and internal tools.
- Integrations: booking, CRM, billing and email tools that need to talk to each other.
